This exhibit will showcase the project design expertise and lampworking talents of the members of each group. Teams consisting of an artist designer and an artist beadmaker were created with one member from each guild, and, together, they have created a wearable piece of beaded art. The teams were encouraged to interpret the project theme in their own fashion. The show will be juried and there will be awards for first, second and third place. "We are very excited, because this is the first joint project undertaken by the two guilds, both of which share a love and appreciation for beads of all kinds. Expect to see many different kinds of beads, with different colors, finishes, shapes, sizes and techniques. Also expect to see many different project techniques, such as beadweaving, bead embroidery, stringing and metal work," says event co-chairs, Margaret Sutherland of South Lyon and Susan Schwartzenberger of Ypsilanti. |
